Online Video Help and Support
The #1 Problem people have is that the video will not play in their browser, and it's an EASY solution! Please, even your computer is new, start with this: 1) Visit Macromedia.Com and download the latest "Flash Player". It's as easy as that. When you install the new flash player, all the videos on the site will work! :) When you get to Adobe.com, look for this link and click it:
NOTE: Sudden pausing and re-starting of video during play is typically based on the speed of your internet connection and the streaming of the video to your computer. If you're getting sudden stops and starts of your video: 1. When the video pauses or seems to temporarily stop on its own, click the Play Button on the video player to PAUSE the video so more of it can be streamed to your computer.
2. Wait approximately 7-10 seconds.
3. Click the Pause Button on the video player to resume normal play. This should insure that enough of the video content has been sent to your computer to allow uninterrupted play until it is finished. Help With Viewing Our Videos SalsaBootcamp has a lot of video on it. Yes, there's audio and great written content too, but this is a video-driven web site designed to deliver its instructional content using the latest technology in digital videography and online video streaming. Here you will find help with viewing the site's online videos, as well as a troubleshooting guide to improve the quality of your video viewing experience. Understanding Your Internet Connection In most cases, you'll have little or no difficulty in viewing our online videos, provided that you are using a "high-speed internet connection". People using dial-up connections are still able to view our videos, but the delivery and quality of the video being watched is likely to suffer. If at all possble, we recommend that you upgrade to a faster internet connection so that you can take advantage of all the content. How we Deliver our Videos: Our Online Video Format The online videos have been created in Flash Video (FLV) format. Therefore, they require the latest Flash Video Player to view them. Online Video Viewing Troubleshooting Guide In case you are having difficulty viewing the online videos on our site for some other reason than what is noted above, we have provided the following information as a "troubleshooting guide" to help you resolve the issue. If you have tried to view our Online Videos but have experienced difficulties in function and/or quality, we offer the following suggestions and recommendations after each question listed below. "I can hear the video but why can't I see it?" The #1 Reason is you do not have the latest version of FLASH installed on your computer. Please visit the MacroMedia Website, and install the "Flash Player", on your computer. It's right here: MacroMedia.Com. You'll be looking for the image that looks like this:
If you can hear sound but the video is not showing, it is probably because you are connecting via a telephone dial-up modem which only processes video/audio data at one-sixth the speed that a Broadband connection does. If you have a Broadband connection you may be experiencing network congestion, so try viewing the videos at a later time when the network may be not so busy. "What if I am behind a firewall or have anti-virus software running on my computer?" Some people have installed security software on their computers in an effort to reduce their computer's exposure to computer viruses, spyware, adware, etc. from the internet. In effect, they have "computer firewalls" installed which are very selective as to what is permitted through from the internet and what isn't. When it comes to viewing videos that are stored on a remote website's server and "streamed" to your computer for viewing through your internet connection as are our videos, often the security and firewall software won't let the video data through and thus, you won't be able to play and view the video. For example, if you have Norton Internet Security installed on your computer, you could be having problems viewing the videos. Depending on the settings within Norton Security, some of the "video data" trying to get through from our secure website server might be blocked by Norton. When Norton blocks this streaming video data, you won't be able to view the videos. However, to get Norton Internet Security to pass the streaming video data through to your computer, you must create a rule to unblock referrer information for the www.SalsaBootCamp.com web site. To create a rule that permits referrer information... 1) Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall. 2) Do one of the following: a) In Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall 2003: Click Options > Internet Security, and then click the Web Content tab. b) In Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall 2004 or newer: Double-click Privacy Control, and then click Advanced. 3) In the bottom of the Advanced window, click Add Site. 4) In the New Site/Domain box, type the name of our site: www.salsabootcamp.com, and click OK. The site name appears in the left frame of the Options window. 5) Click the name of the new site. 6) On the Global Settings tab, under the Information about visited sites section, uncheck "Use default settings". 7) Click Permit. 8) Click OK to close the Options window. Doing this will allow our website server to "stream" the video data to your computer, but more importantly, through your security firewall, and will not compromise your internet security settings in any way
